USA Today, 09 Mar 2010 - States' Moves Reflect 'New Era' of Acceptance LOS ANGELES -- James Gray once saw himself as a drug warrior, a former federal prosecutor and county judge who sent people to prison for dealing pot and other drug offenses. Gradually, though, he became convinced that the ban on marijuana was making it more accessible to young people, not less.
Greenville News, 22 Feb 2010 - State taxpayers spend millions each year to lock up prisoners for probation violations, driving under suspension and other nonviolent offenses -- and the costs are expected to swell by hundreds of millions if nothing is done. Prison admissions have grown 26 percent in a decade with a large chunk coming not from murderers, rapists and other violent criminals but lower-level offenders.
Record Searchlight, 22 Feb 2010 - Recent articles and editorials in the Record Searchlight haven't shed much light on the roots of the problem or the view of medical marijuana patients in the current rush to get ordinances passed. I will try to do that here. Medical marijuana was made legal in California by the Compassionate Use Act (Proposition 215) in 1996. The intent of this law was to protect patients from prosecution under laws directed at illegal use of marijuana. While sale or possession under state and federal laws still remains illegal, other state laws and legal guidelines have been put in place to help law enforcement and other agencies discern the difference. SB 420, the Medical Marijuana Program, was put in place to codify and clarify the intent of the citizens of California by defining Proposition 215 as part of the state Health Code. Proposition 215 was passed by the vote of the people; it cannot be amended or repealed except by another vote of the people of California.
Denver Post, 08 Mar 2010 - The divisions between the pro- and anti-marijuana crowds at the state House Judiciary Committee meeting were already clear last week when the young man who described himself as a recovering heroin addict approached the microphone. As the man spoke about marijuana use leading kids to harder drugs and fears that medical marijuana from dispensaries would make it into teenage hands, the lines became even clearer.
Times Argus, 09 Mar 2010 - MONTPELIER - A legislative effort to provide eligible patients with safe and legal access to medical marijuana could inch forward this week when a Senate committee decides whether to create state-sanctioned dispensaries for the drug. The Senate Committee on Government Operations is scheduled to vote Thursday on a bill that would establish up to five so-called "compassion centers" at which patients could obtain medical marijuana.
The Daily Sentinel, 08 Mar 2010 - Some people in Colorado, including Colorado Attorney General John Suthers, want the state Legislature to stuff the medical marijuana genie back in the hookah. Yes, Colorado voters approved Amendment 20 a decade ago to legalize medical marijuana, they say. But voters never envisioned the system that has sprung up, with medical marijuana dispensaries on seemingly every corner in many municipalities.

In an off-the-cuff interview on BBC radio's Talking Point show, Helen Clark said she believed Blair was sincere in the run-up to the war.
Vancouver Courier, 07 Jul 2003 - "So, Are You Experienced? Have You Ever Been Experienced? Well I Have." - -Jimi Hendrix, "Are You Experienced" Karl Ferris is fussing with his computer. A trim, friendly man just over 60, he wants to show a visitor to his tidy West End apartment a slide presentation of his photos.
